Getting started on Moyars
After you create an account, use this short guide to log in, complete your profile, add relatives, and explore your family tree.
1. Create your account
- Open Register and fill in your details carefully (name, username, phone, family info).
- Submit the form. New accounts wait for admin approval.
- You will get a WhatsApp message once your account is approved. Until then, login will not work.
Already have an account? Someone in the family may have created one for you. Search members first, or ask us for your username and a password reset.
2. Log in and open Dashboard
- Go to Login with your username and password.
- After login you land on Dashboard. You can also open it anytime from your username menu → Dashboard.
- On Dashboard, open the Family relations tab to manage parents, spouse, siblings, and children.
3. Complete your profile
- In Dashboard, update your photo and basic details so relatives can recognise you in search.
- Add kutumba / tharavad / kshetra details if you know them — this helps others find the right person when names are similar.
- Check privacy settings if you want phone, email, or date of birth to stay private.
4. Add relatives
Relatives must also have a Moyars account (existing or newly created).
From Dashboard → Family relations:
- For Mother, Father, Spouse, Sibling, or Child you will see two buttons:
- Search (green) — link someone who already has an account.
- Add new (blue) — create a new person first, then link them.
When searching for an existing relative:
- Click the search button for that relation (example: Mother).
- Type their name in the search box.
- If several people match, check the last 4 digits of the mobile number before choosing.
- Confirm the relation type in the dropdown (how you are related to them).
- Submit. The person should appear on your Family relations list.
Tip: Start with parents and spouse, then siblings and children. That fills the tree fastest and helps others connect through you.
5. View your family tree
- On Dashboard → Family relations, click View Family Tree next to your name.
- You appear in the centre, with parents, siblings, spouse, and children around you.
- Click any name on the tree to open that person’s tree.
6. Find how two people are related
- Open Find relation from Members in the menu.
- Search and select the two people.
- The site shows the family path between them when enough links are already added.
If the path is missing, add more parent/spouse/sibling links for people in between — the connection usually appears after that.
7. What else you can do
- Write an article — share family stories and memories (admin approval may be needed).
- Share a notice — achievements, marriages, obituaries, community news.
- Add an event — gatherings and community events.
- Phone book — find members’ contact details (based on their privacy settings).
