Presently this Sthanam is situated near the Kumbla railway station towards the south Earlier it was still to the south at a place called Mograla and Moral is considered to be another form of Moarala. At that time local Ballals were in power in this area and later on due to certain reasons this Sthanam was shifted nearer to the Kumbla railway station It is said that there were good number of Moya households around Mograla earlier. Once when the small pox epidemic broke out in this area many Moyars lost their lives. Due to the thinning of Maya population the Sthanam was also weakened. Besides. the muslim population increased and this created many problems for the smooth running of the Kshetra. Therefore, Moyas deserted Mogral and shifted to Kumbla about 150 years back. Around the same time people of Thiya Samaj too left Mogral and shifted their Pulloorali Bhagawathi Kshetra from there to a place at Kavugoli At Kumbla already there was a Sthanam of Arekara Bhagawathi and Vishnumoorthi being run by Made; Moya Kutumba people. At the same complex a separate ground was created and place for Bhagawathis shifted from Mogral. These two complexes were maintained separately for quite some time But since the last 70 years both these are being looked after by the local Sabha. It is believed that Bhagawathis came to Morai from Kerte It seems two ladies belonging to Bengat Moya Kutumba and Kokkotu Moya Kutumba had gone to Karle to witness the annual festival of the Sthanam .there These ladies felt that they were not property treated dunng the rituals and complaining to the Bhagawathis they were returning home On the way. it seems the umbrella carried by one of them started shaking. Thinking that it must be because of the power of the daivas, a “Prashne” session was arranged at the Kokkotu Moya Tharavad Then rt was learnt that the Bhagawathis had accompanied them. Thereafter a daivasthana was constructed at Morai Since there were a good number of Moyas residing at Kumbla. the Bhandaramane and lower Sthana were constructed at Kumbla itself.
People belonging to this Sthanam reside at Kumbla, Kavugoli. Berika and Kasaragod. They do certain service like Kasaragod They do certain service like erecting the flag pole etc. at the Kanipura Gopalaknshna Temple They do offer the same service during the annual festival at Madhoor Ganapathi Temple. Legend has it that the idol at Shedikavu Shankaranarayana Temple was first retrieved from the sea by a Moya lady and hence Moyas do have the opportunity of performing certain service at this temple too. Nadavali Utsav is.being held here occasionally and there is no practice of holding it annually. Tulapathu etc are being held regularly During Nadavali as per tradition wood of jackfruit tree required for preparing the fire for walking on is to be provided free of cost by the Ichlampadi Guthu Paddy required during the Tulapath festival is to be provic;ied by people from the Kannur Guthu near Mogral During the Nadavali, immediately on coming out of the Sthanam Punyakal Bhagawathi will visit the Sthanam of Veeramar and Aryakar Bhagawathi However this is not the practice at Karla where she does not visit the Sthanam of Veeramar. During the festival four young men observe Vratha and holding umbrellas run from corner to corner possessed by the deity and look like darshana pathns This is a unique feature of this Sthanam On the last day of the utsava Panjurli Nema is also held just outside the complex.
